Le but de ce groupe est de mener une rflexion autour dun axe stratgique (Ultra Low Power & Energy harvesting) afin de mettre en place des actions ayant pour but de favoriser lmergence de produits technologiques innovants qui engendrent des dveloppements sociaux-conomiques dans la rgion PACA. Identifier des actions & les partenaires dun projet collaboratif pour par exemple: PME : Benchmarker et amliorer un concept ou un produit auprs de partenaires Grands groupes : Acqurir du savoir faire priphrique auprs de partenaires Acadmiques : Proposer des solutions dveloppes en laboratoire des partenaires industriels ou aidez au dveloppement de concepts innovants Cadre: ARCSIS aidera lamorage des projets et mettra en relation dans la phase de montage les partenaires avec les organismes ddis (Ple SCS, SATT, OSEO etc). Mise en place de consortium maturation Projet n Exemple de Projet financ Ultra Low Power Titre: PROJET LOKEOS Systme didentification et de localisation ultra-large bande. Descriptif des objectifs: LOKEOS porte sur le dveloppement dun ensemble complet de balises radio ultra-miniaturises et trs hautes performances, de rcepteurs radio longue porte intelligents et dun logiciel dexploitation constitu de composants logiciels embarqus et sur serveur. Partenaires: EDITAG, ST Microelectronics, Gemalto, SynthetiK World, CEA Leti, IM2NP Financement: FUI (co-labellisation Ple SCS, Minalogic)

Titre: Projet APODISE Autonomous POrtable DIgital Secure Element (Apodize means to remove or smooth a sharp discontinuity in a mathematical function; here we could imagine to smooth peoples difficulties to use his Portable Secure Element anywhere) Descriptif des objectifs: Development of new generation of autonomous portable secure element. It may achieve providing the means of harvesting, storing and recovering the requested energy to enable the secure element object, carrying Digital Security to anybody, anytime, anywhere. Find partners to develop and assemble new technological bricks, to address the Digital Security Domain with new objects.

Proposition de Projets Ultra Low Power In the field of portable secure element domain, the need of energy autonomy is crucial, all along the life time of the products. As examples, banking cards life time is 3 years or identity documents (eID cards, eDriving licence, ) may have longer life time extended to 10-15 years. These products are challenged to be secure, friendly and potentially communicant, that can be achieve using several available technologies (display, keyboards, RF, ). They also need to fulfil mechanical (flexible, limited thickness, surface and therefore volume) and environmental constraints (temperature range). Gemalto would appreciate to share ideas and experimental or industrial developments and participate to common project with partners, to achieve the development of new generation portable objects, carrying Digital Security to anybody, anytime, anywhere. All technical aspects are challenged, regarding energy harvesting, energy storage and energy recovery. Proposition de Projets

Ultra Low Power As a base for the use case study, a target available power for 1 functional cycle may be around 5 or 6 mW.s, to be harvested, stored, and recovered. 1. Harvesting The harvesting period must be as fast as possible. 1 minute seems to be an interesting target to harvest 6mW.s to address the portable secure element domain. 2. Storage The storage capacity should be able to source the voltage range 3V-4.2V for compatibility with embedded electronic components, and to avoid step-up DC-DC converter which needs external self with dimension generally not compatible with the targeted thickness of the product. 3. Power recovery The recovery may be done through up to 10mA spike current. Therefore the internal impedance of the storage element may not affect the output voltage and downgrade or limit the performance. 4. Mechanical constraints Storage and harvesting elements should be flexible, according to the thickness capabilities. a) Targeted embedded thickness target : 350-450m. Starting thickness may be around 1mm, improving thinner in the project time frame. b) Targeted available surface for storage element : 4-5cm2
